SPAM - PHISHING Emails - How to Deal With It?
SPAM and Phishing emails are one of the top annoyances we have to encounter on a daily basis. Below are some helpful tips and tricks to obliterate them from your inbox.
The first step is to find out what mail service you're using. Whether you're using Microsoft (Exchange, Office 365), Gmail (Google), AOL Mail, Yahoo mail, YMail, or Hotmail (Live Mail)...etc. If you're unsure, please click the following link to find out. Which mail service am I using?
Microsoft Exchange (Office 365):
- While on that email message in Outlook, press Ctrl + Alt + F to "Forward as an Attachment."
- In the "TO" box enter phish@office365.microsoft.com.
- Press Send.
- Microsoft will review your email and block it on the server.
Gmail, Google, G Suite:
- Open webmail through gmail.com (https://gmail.com).
- While on the email in Gmail press the "settings button" while in the email. This is the three dots going vertically.
- Click Report as Spam or Report as Phishing, depending upon what type of email it is.
- Follow on-screen instructions till complete.
- Google will update you after they review the email.
AOL Mail:
- Go to AOL Mail on webmail (https://webmail.aol.com)
- Select the email that is SPAM.
- Press the "SPAM" button in the top menu.
- Follow on-screen directions.
- AOL will inform you when the email is blocked.
Yahoo Mail, Ymail:
- Go to Yahoo Mail on webmail. (https://mail.yahoo.com)
- Check the checkbox to select the spam mail.
- Click the "SPAM" button on the top menu.
- Follow on-screen directions.
- Yahoo will inform you when the email is blocked.
Hotmail, Live Mail:
- Go to Hotmail (https://outlook.live.com/owa/)
- Select spam email using check box.
- Click on the Junk button on the top menu.
- Follow on-screen directions.
